A new dashboard update for the Xbox 360 was released today. One of the most significant changes is that the Xbox can now play Divx and xvid files. All you need to do is to download the dashboard update, attempt to play an xvid or a divx file and it'll prompt you to download the codec for it. Another couple of megabytes of download and you're ready to rock! So far, all my video files play. However, it doesn't play anything older than Divx 5.0. Nor does it support .mkv files which is the format most HD video files on the internet are being released as. Other than that, the only thing I need the xbox to do now is for it to support my monitor's native resolution of 1680 x 1050. Almost perfect.
